It takes me 2-3 hours to charge my battery, and i think that is normal, as the RC battery is way larger than the aircraft battery

Not quite. The battery in the transmitter is make up of two 3.7 volt, 3000 mAh batteries wired in series.
The battery in the remote is only a 7.4 volt, 6000mAh batter.

The Phantom uses a 15.2 volt, 4480mAH rated battery. The batteries used in the Phantom are rated for a higher discharge rate of 35 amps.
The charger provides two different voltages. When it's charging the remote, it charges at .75 amps, 8.4 volts. When charging the Phantom's battery it charges at almost 5 amps.

Run the Phantom for a couple of minutes and immediately pull the battery. It will be too hot to hold due to the high amperage being pulled.
