Great guide, perhaps it should be Minimizing not Prevent?

I've never had a fly away.  I like the word Prevent.  MHO

Great guide, perhaps it should be Minimizing not Prevent?

99% (or more) of the people I've seen involved in crashes or flyaways have not followed at least one piece of advice in this guide. So, prevent is probably quite appropriate in this case.

Good info, nothing new learned, which I guess is a good thing. Did cost me some money though....I ordered a couple Firehouse Arc II CREE Strobes, not sure if I will mount or not, but will see. I also created me a new DecalGirl skin.

Its that 1 percent,  youve you given the reason why it should be ''Minimising'' and not ''Prevent''.

It was only a suggestion, i just felt the word ''Prevent'' implies that if you follow the guide you will never get a fly away, but thats not strictly true, theres always electronic or software issues that could cause a ''fly away''. hence why i felt,  Minimising the risk of a crash or a flyaway......... is more apt.

Flying regularly in ATTI mode with light winds is the best practice against GPS stabilisation degradation, it will open your eyes in so many ways:

- You will pay more attention to wind direction and speed.
- You will choose more wisely your landin spot.
- You will learn "to do things into the wind" like the big boys do, particularly takeoff and landing, even in GPS mode.
- You will realise how dangerous a strong wind could be.
- You will plan for the wind.
- You will learn a good deal of panic control.
- You will improve your situational awareness: where are you, where is the drone, what is the wind direction, what the recovery bearing must be.
- You will likely end getting yourself one of these.

We're really dissecting the intricacies of language, aren't we?  :-)

If the title was "Prevent All Flyaways" you might have somewhat of a point.

But the title is "Prevent A Flyaway" which is to say "prevent one flyaway" which is the one which would have happened if the checks weren't done per the guide.

Good luck

Hey, my bad for expressing concern, and that is all it was, concern,  as you can be sued for most things nowadays.

Mark, you read that title wrong then, its prevent a crash or flyaway, not a flyaway or crash.

But please,  do forgive one for having an opinion on a public forum.

I made some changes to allow this guide to be cleanly printed or saved as a PDF. When printing it from your web browser, change the destination to PDF to save it as a PDF instead of printing it. For example, this is where that option is set in Chrome:
