If i push the return to home can i pause it if i think for whatever reason it may be in trouble ie wrong hieght etc.Thanks

Yes you can both cancel and pause, unless in critical battery mode.

You can quickly press and release the RTH button on the remote controller to cancel RTH. It can also be cancelled from the icon on the left side of DJI GO.

I preach that every pilot should go out to an empty field every couple of months and practice RTH.  If you ever really need it, it's best if you're VERY familiar with the process.
