It is brand new and paid in 499$, as mentionned it was a great deal and I really had nothing to lose but time if it was anythjing else than advertised.
I cant confirm because that was not my case, but to answer your question i believe the refurbs have a letter taken out in the serial number. Also, its states it pretty clearly on the box and you get an additional pamphlet explaining what a refurbished unit really goes through and how it can qualify, and if you look at the serial numbers on the drone underside and the box, you will see the stickers with SN are replaced but if ever its slightly off, you can see the residue of the adhesive left behing by the original sticker.
But lets ask around for people that have been in that situation, Mine is now refurbished, as any drone going into repair also becomes...the letter missing theory i had seen it on the spark pilots forum, and i was able to confirm it as the image shows my original above and the refurb sticker that was on the park when he came back. The rest of the SN also means something but unless we know the algorythm DJI use we wont be able to say for sure unless enough people post theirs and the info about it. I'm pretty sure 'OAS' stands for the Spark model code...all i can say is my original was made on december 14 2017, the other sticker comes back as the 18 July 2018, but besides the decoder for the manuf, date, thats all i know for sure.
