in the newest version of the Mavic 2 Pro manual are some suggested settings to correct the barrel distortion in DLOG-M:


But where should I apply these settings?
They don´t look plausible in the fisheye lens effect:

no correction:


0.05 has nearly no effect:


-5 looks better, but thats not what is stated in the manual?!:



So my question is: where should I apply those values in FCPX??

Here is a video on the matter, plus an 'effect' you can download and easily apply in FCP, etc

I know this effect and it works ok, but the manual doesn’t state that we have to download anything to correct the distortion.
So my understanding is that it can be fixed just with fcpx.

Are you referring to the DJI Mavic 2 Pro manual?
The 'effect' file is just a convenient way to apply the fix - it's the same as if you'd applied the correction manually via the panels on the right (in FCPX)

I am referring to this section of the manual.

I've just tried those values out in FCPX, and like you... they don't seem correct...

(in the meantime, I'll do some research - maybe someone else will chime in!)

It would be terrific if someone from DJI could explain how those settings are supposed to be used.

...well, in the meantime I made my own effect that works quite well using Apple Motion, but the values I used for the distortion have nothing in common with the ones from the manual.

I'm in the exact same boat... I'll just wait here for someone cleverer than me to tell me how to do this, because I cannot figure it out for the life of me!

@DJI: I think at least the guys who wrote the manual should know!

In case you are still looking for the  answer to this, DJI has given instructions for how to use the distortion correction in FCP X and the other packages, in the DLogM to Rec. 709 User Guide available from the support pages. You have to download and install the Alex4D Wide Angle Fix plugin and use the correction factor in there. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know this manual. Wondering why no one from DJI pointed me in this
direction?
I wrote my own FCPX plugin in the meantime but now I can compare it with the recommendations .
