Very annoying. Zero metal around and often on the same spot as on previous flights. My old Mavic 1 didn't require it once for 200 flights. Guess the dual compass witch is now gone in the M2 took care of it.
Have the same issue, its nothing wrong with the environment, and im not going to send my new back to get another refurbished in return.
If i could take off and ignore the message, i would just take off, but i dont think its possible?
This is a over sensitive compass.
Hi there, our apologies for the inconvenience. These are the scenarios why we need to calibrate the compass.
1. When the app prompts that the compass needs to be calibrated, the drone’s compass has suffered from interference as the aircraft was turned on in a place where there is magnetic interference. Make sure to fly the aircraft in an open area free of interference.
2. When powering on the drone, ensure that the aircraft is at a standstill. If there is interference or the aircraft is powered on during movement, the compass’s orientation may be altered, and then recalibration is needed.
3. To ensure the flight stability, the app will prompt you to calibrate the compass when there is a need. Please follow the app and calibrate it.
For your case, may I know if the drone experience crash before or any hard landing? Kindly try to change location in an open wide area so that we can isolate the issue. Please try to refresh the firmware using DJI Assistant 2 for mavic. You can download the software here : https://www.dji.com/mavic-2/info#downloads and follow the video tutorial below.

Updating the firmware solved the problem. Many thanks
They have changed compass behaviour where its now detecting if it hasnt been calibrated for 30 days or moved a set distance and forcing a calibration. This is different to the M1 and other drones.
But unless you fly once every 30 days or move it large distances between each flight, that isnt the problem here!

String
You gots to read before you type...... the firmware SOLVED the issue.
also had similar issues. but mine were deriving from having my ND filterbox to close to the M2P (eg in the carrying case). the ND filterbox has a magnet (to keep the cap in place) and that caused my to calibrate the compass every time. now keeping it further away, no more issues.
btw, check out that video from IKOPTA talking about the same issue for the Polar Pro ND Filter case. I have the PGYTECH filter case also using a magnet.

I find that hard to believe, its an electronic compass that needs power to work, and as long as its powered if, it cannot be affected by any magnetic sources... and at least not permanently.
well done, great idea. I have the PGYTECH filters, there you can't do this. The magnet there is kind of in stripes attached to the cover and the box. if you remove this, the box won't close and stay closed. since I am keeping the filters away from my M2P the compass error seems gone.
When I calibrate the compass on my Mavic 2 Pro I get a very brief message saying "cannot fly" for a couple of seconds and then it says "ready to go GPS". Is this normal?

It is always good to read the manual. If you drive more then 50 km from the past point of flying the drone , it will indeed promp to update. If you stay in the neighborhood it will not. I experience this everytime . I flying near my house a few times a week, no prompts. As soon i go further it will ask me to callibrate.

Interesting. I flew the Mavic 1 för 17 months in 8 countries without a single prompt för calibration.

Interesting indeed, however, the manual says "It is recommended....". Does the "Compass Calibration" notice really pop-up automatically when it notices that it is more than 50km away from the last time?

is this fact or supposition ?
if fact.. published anywhere.. ?
do you know / is it published for which models new 'behavior' is valid for?

Yes that is correct. I also own the mavic platinum and i hardly have to compass callibrate. But mp2 is a different drone then mavic 1/platinum.
For example mp1 has 2 compasses , mavic 2 only 1.
So this also could be a reason for the more compass callibrations.

I realize this is an old thread but I am now having this same issue. I bought my MP2 over a year ago. Had an accident with a tree. Sent it in for a repair and they sent me what looked like a new one back. Now every time I go to fly, the app asks for a compass calibration. Will not let me take off until I do it. Its very annoying. I guess I will have to send it back and try again.
