I have a Mavic Pro and have always flew it without engaging the airplane mode on my Sony xperia X which has run flawlessly.
But I was wondering what you guys do when flying your Mavic Pro (on your Wi-Fi) cell phone. Do turn the airplane mode on?
I leave cellular on but WiFi and bluetooth off and ensure no other apps are running when flying. This enables me to see the map in hybrid without having to cache it beforehand. Never had any issues with signal on the MP/P/A in doing so but yes, you can still receive calls which is annoying though I tend to fly in the golden hour when most are still in bed and use my iPad!
Hi Salmonslayer, thank you for reaching DJI Forum. We do appreciate this bringing this query to us. Yes, it is highly suggested to turn ON the airplane mode to avoid any interference. Another thing you should be considering is turning OFF the Bluetooth and closing all the applications to your phone. Should you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach us. We're here to help you. Have a safe flight always.
Once you cache the maps the data is accurate. Latest versions of the DJI Go4 app seem to require 100% of the phone resources so kill all background apps and fly happy
I've flown with airplane mode on and off. I totally understand turning it off, but I usually leave it on in case someone needs me in a hurry, such as my wife or my Alarm in my house notifies me via text. But I have a distinctive ring for both of them, so I usually screen my calls just by listening to the ringer. I haven't really noticed any flight difference between the two.
