Northeastern NY is home to the High Peaks area and the Adirondack Park. The park is about 160 miles (260 km) in diameter and about 1 mile (1,600 m) high. The Adirondack High Peaks is the name given to 46 mountain peaks in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. A popular goals is to become a 46er, by climbing to all 46 peaks. Drones don't count...lol. The area has an abundance of lakes, ponds, waterfalls, strreams anda roarig rivers. Wildlife is abundant everywhere, deer, foxes, moose, bears, and birds of all kinds. There are many intesting and breath taking cliff faces too.
The main draw every year is the calling of the leaf peepers...People in search of fall colors in the trees. It is tricky to get catch at peak and it varys from laasting 2 weeks to a maybe a month, then it is gone unitl next year. Most people head straight for Vermont, which is just the other side of lake Champlaign but end up staying right here in the Adirondack park for some to the most amazing abundance of Fall Colors!!!
