Anyone have ideas why when using the OTG Cable, why the r/c and aircraft become disconnected intermintedly? Airplane mode is on.

Phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4

It used to work flawless. Maybe a firmware update did it because older phone. Maybe?

I like using the OTG Cable because video doesn't studder like when using wifi.

I can't afford a newer Apple at this time.

I have the same issue, except I have NEVER been able to get it to connect! Even sent it in for warranty repair!

Aaron, did you connect it in the right order? As I have read and never used yet have seen that one needs to connect all in a certain order. Yes I seen that it used to work for you but sometimes many forget some, Yes I am one but on flying check all before flying. I also had some very odd issues that I still am looking into but mine is good once more.

Forgive as I am going through much now but forgot to say that I had a connection issue not only with my spark but also my Tello.  I could connect to my RC  and fly but phone would not connect.  WIFI showed and tried to connect and froze on both.  This was after I checked and seen I had a update on phone.  Soon after another phone update and all is good now.

I do believe many problems are not with drone software but when the phone gets updated.

My otg settings:
Phone on
set location on,    wifi off,    airplane mode on (so calls can be made)
Phone off  (Android 6.0)
RC on, AC on - green light on RC
cable into phone
phone is off
cable into RC, immediately phone comes on and asks - share files - selected

can be tested by pulling the cable out - immediate disconnect

go fly.....

Note: my cable consists of 2 parts, always put Sony cable into phone. Make sure snug fit.

Works every time.

try this
DJI SPARK START UP
REMOVE THE RUBBER BATTERY SAFTY CLIPS
OPEN PHONE TURN WI-FI &BLUE TOOTH OFF
START UP SPARK, START RC WAITE FOR GREEN LED
OPEN DJI GO 4 APP, PLUG IN OTG CABLE
DJI GO 4 APP READS CONNECTED
CHECK SATELLITES 10 OR ABOVE
GO TO COMPASS AND SET RED ARROW POINTER
MAKE SURE IT POINTS THE WAY THE SPARK IS FACING
TAP GO FLY. SET HOME POINT

I've had that problem when the cable wasn't plugged in well.

I keep the phone connected to the remote all the time, except while charging. Just works. It's an old, cast-off iPhone.

I have a problem with the otg connection!
If I follow the suggested order (spark, rc, otg),  the phone connects and disconnects continuously!
Instead, if I turn on the rc, then I connect my phone via otg... the otg connection works but, when I turn on the spark and it connects to the rc, my otg connection stops and starts continuously!!
What's wrong???

I solved my problem just refreshing the firmware via dji assistant 2!!!

I've not been able to get the OTG cable to do anything but charge the remote from the phone's battery.

No!!! I didn't solve anything!!! the otg connection problem has returned!!!
I cannot connect my phone via otg when rc and ac are connected together!!!
Any ideas???

otg cable are directional! try to use it in the other direction! ;-)

Try to plug it the other way. And if you have adapter, the adapter has to be from RC, not phone.
