Hey all drone addicts !! I don't usually do this but for this new contest we were asked to describe the way we edited the footage and got the shots! So don't judge too much on me !
-To start with, i filmed the entire video with a DJI Mavic Pro, but to add a bit of visuals, I used a Lumix G7 handheld camera to do some B-roll. What is B-roll you're gonna ask. It's basically additionnal footage to complement your main video! For exemple, in this short clip, I filmed some quick close up shots of trees, waterfalls, playing with focus to add some natural visual effects.
-As for the drone bit, I've been practicing natural ''flowing'' moves ever since I got the remote in my hands. No hard turns, no quick gimbal moves. This adds up to the cinematic finish your targeting. You can also always cut your shot to remove those as well in post. What i mean by ''post'', simply when you edit your video (post-processing). So.. go easy on those sticks!
-If you heard about those ND filters, this is to Get the right motion blur in your video. Motion blur is just the way your moving objets ''fade'' in a motion if I can say. For exemple someone jumping up and down will have a good motion blur if it seems to flow, bad if it's cutting out sharp every frame when jumping. To achieve this with a DJI product, you will need those ND filters that simply pop's on the camera. It's like sunglasses for the lens. You always want 2 times the shutter speed of the frame rate you are filming(WOAAA)...not so hard ;): In this video I filmed in 4K@30 FPS, meaning i was targetting a shutter speed of 60. Since it was overcast, I used a ND8 to get the right EV of 0 (the right exposure).
-And all of this to finish with post-processing, where all the magic happens! There is so much to speak about in this, so much that I won't do it !! It is your personnal taste as an artist that will lead your to a certain direction in what you wanna do. All I can say is that you want the eye to be excited as much as possible. So not too many extra long shots, good effects when needed, transition between shots is a must (but don't go too hard if it's a mellow video you are doing like for this #Autumn# edit), and good color grading.
All of this said, enjoy my video!!! If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them, you can see some of my work on Instagram(photos) and Youtube(well...videos) under NicoRicoSancho. Thanks for watching, and/or reading..because i know some of you won't read hahah!

Nice one! Love the music, reminds me of the Fountain soundtrack
Hehe thanks so much! Forgot to mention in the tutorial that music is a big factor to a great video! So choosing something relaxing was a must for this mellow landscape edit. Sometimes i see people watching videos without the sound on: this pretty much ruins the entire edit. There is some effort made by the editor in post to fit the music with shots, it enhance the whole thing ! Thanks for your comment !!
