Incredible Drone Video about the Giant Kites Festival in Sumpango, Guatemala.
That is how people in Guatemala celebrate the day of the death in Sumpango Guatemala.
According to Guatemalan culture, flying a kite is a way to honor and get closer to your lost loved ones. In Sumpango, north of Antigua, they take it so seriously that they build up giant kites, so big that they can’t even fly!
Groups of local people work on them for the previous 6 months, gluing together pieces of colored paper, in order to make astonishing pictures. Then they assembly these giant kites on the ground of the soccer field and rise them up, using just ropes and bamboo posts. The process of pulling up those giant kites, up to 20m tall, with strong wind is spectacular and sometime dangerous.
Thanks for your kind words! Was the first time for us as well. Sumpango is still not so tourist people usually prefer to stay in Mexico for these days. Was an amazing experience!

Awesome custom! Do they actually fly them afterwards? Must be a freat sight to see them all in the sky.
We just saw few “small” one flying they where just about 1 or 2 m. We didn’t see any of these flying, they are veeery big. Almost 30 people weren’t enough to lift the biggest one. Just incredible
