I'm wondering if this is an issue, limitation, or incorrect setting. On some shots when I pan, or get fast sweeping shots of water, trees, etc it seems like part of the image (mainly background) stutters. It's more than motion blur. I've tried in 4K 30/24 and 2.7K 30/24.  I should probably try 60fps to see what happens. My aperature was 2.8 and have seen the problem up to 4.5. My shutter speed was 1/50th or 1/60th depending on the frame rate I chose. I don't notice this all the time in my shots.
I will try and upload a video to show, but I notice less of the problem when you upload to social media as more detail gets stripped out of the image. I was using either an ND 32 or 64 to get the proper shutter speed on bright days.

D-LOG M  H.265.   Because parts of the image don't have this problem I'm wondering if it's a compression issue? When videos get watched on an i-phone XS you notice it less than a TV. Have tried many different TV's both 1080p and 4K native to see if it was an issue with the display scaling 24/30 to 60hz.

Wondering if anyone has experienced such a thing? Running current firmware and tried factory default.

If its fast motion is most likely a compression issue not shutter related.

It would be good to see some sample footage demonstrating what you are seeing in your footage.  But I also agree with gnirtS that there is a likelihood that it is very likely related to compression and not necessarily shutter speed.

However, it would be interesting to see your footage to see if it matches up with our experiences.  Maybe you can try placing the original video file on something like dropbox or google drive so we can see the original and not the compressed social media version for the reasons you mentioned.

Sounds like you've spent quite a bit of time investigating it.  Did you also try with the normal color profile (not DLOG-M) and H.265?  What about just a normal H.264 file?

Hey everyone thanks for the replies!

I got out today and captured some quick clips. Nothing spectacular so I'm sorry in advance. Here's what I've noticed.

There is no difference between H.264 & H.265 D-LOG M.  The difference is shooting 24fps vs 60 fps.  Below are two videos. You can see the ones when I'm bringing the camera up quicker and it's stuttering this is at 24fps. I ran the files through Adobe Premier Media Encoder and matched the bitrate. No footage is edited.  I understand this is considered fast movement and higher frame rate should be chosen, but I can notice stutter flying straight at 30mph.

The first clip is 2.7K 24fps 1/50th shutter 3.5 aperture DLOG M H.265 with an ND 16 filter. The second clip is 60fps 1/120th shutter 3.5 aperture DLOG M H.265 with an ND 16 filter

I've tried MP4 & MOV a long with EV from 0 to 1.3+. The reason I tried MOV is I'm comparing footage on my i-phone XS, ipad mini, and LG HDR monitor. Didn't think there would be a difference between MOV & MP4, but wanted to try.

Here are the sharpening, contrast, and saturation levels I've set for custom. I have not messed around with this too much. I might take everything back to zero and do the same test.

sharpening = +1
contrast = -1
saturation = 0

Has anyone witnessed this or is this considered the normal user experience shooting 24fps?

Im still thinking compression.

100mbit is bare minimum for 8 big 264 and same for 10 bit 265 (proper cameras use 160 or higher for example).

Just to confirm here, you're using the actual 265/264 files off the SD card not the mobile device cache?

Yes I was actually using the 265/264 file. I would bet your right! Guess the solution will be to shoot higher frame rate for faster moving scenes. Makes sense just looks so fake having to shoot 60fps when you're going for a cinematic look. I wonder if I shoot 2.7K 60fps and then down frame to 30 or 24fps in Premier Pro.

Correct. Shoot 60FPS then in post you can slow it down if you need to. I always shoot higher FR especially panning shots or moving objects.

" I wonder if I shoot 2.7K 60fps and then down frame to 30"

This is exactly what I do.
Render 30 FPS not 24. (my preference).

Always stick to the half rule:

120-60
60-30
48-24
