Does anyone know if there is an issue with flying backward and upward together.

I was trying this today as a backward pull away shot and when  I started to go backwards and then pushed theh rightn stick to lift upwards as well, the drone stoped going backwards.

Do i need to be in a special flight mode to achieve this?  Would sensed obsticles interfere with this.

I think I have done this before, but could not get it work today for some reason.

Any ideas welcome.

Of course you are able to fly backwards and upwards at the same time. Why wouldn't you?

Yes, if obstacles are sensed,  the drone will obviously stop.

If there were no obstacles causing your Mavic's sensors to react, the sensors could've been facing the sun. Sometimes obstacle avoidance sensors confuse the sun as a close object and the Mavic will stop.

Thanks for all responses. Clearly something was being confused today. Maybe it was the sun, it was a very bright sunny day.

It was behaving strangely, as soon as I applied the uptick, it would brake and stop reversing and only go up. I will try again in different circumstances.

It does (so it should work in your case) work like it should here... with all my drones...

Try it again...

Up and back is the basic "Dronie", it's also an option in Quickshots.

No problems - but I have heard that warm room/car to cold outside can sometimes cause condensation issues - or vice versa in ac rooms to warm outside issues. My proper camera had same sort of problem in Singapore & HongKong when I was lucky enough to visit. Just a thought.

It's called a 'dronie' shot these days - you should have no problems doing it. Turn off the obstacle avoidance

I was going to say try the Dronie option in Quickshots. The drone will automatically make said manoeuvre once you've selected a point of focus, and you'll be able to see if your Mavic can make it without issues, indicating that there are no problems with it.

Just gave it a quick try. Haven't tried it since last update.

Worked OK for me.

Flying backwards and downwards is another story as it is close to kill motors. Has anyone done this by accident?

Unless you have changed your stick profile, pushing the right stick forward would make it stop and pushing it further would make it go forward.
The left stick controls ascent / descent if your sticks are in default profile. (#2)

I definitely had the right stick back and the left stick Forward (up) and yet it was in Profile 2.

Having seen everyones elses responses, it must have been some sort of avoidance issue interference.

I will test gain in a wide open space to be sure. As I think I said in my initial post, I am sure I have done this before without even thinking about it. Just flying around.

Again Thanks to all that have responded.
