It was raining.....
Even with some thunder.
But the next day we would go home and we decided not to return to this location in the coming years.
So I knew it would be my last visit there for a long time.
And I took the gamble....
Might seem a bit stupid, but I have special feelings for this place.
We first visited the campsite in 1995.
Returning a couple of times in my childhood.
Every year I got to this station waiting for this train to come.
There was no internet, so no way of knowing when it would come.
Waited for hours and hours there (I know now it does not run every day )
But that was ok. The anticipation was enough to keep me satisfied.
And one day I did hear the train coming.
Grabbed my VHS camera and made the best footage I have ever made (not technically the best, actually not good at all if you look at it now, but the most satisfying for me).
When I returned in 2006 with my dad, I was glad to find out it still ran.
Made a very complete docu about that railway. But of course I did not have a drone back then.
After we got kids, we returned again in 2015. The campsite was not as good anymore.
They don't really maintain it anymore....
Very sad to see.
But since the environment is so nice, we took that for granted and returned in 2016 and 2017.
I did shoot some footage (not as much because of the kids), but still without a drone.
Until this year
So you can imagine I really needed to get that shot.
Even though it was a high risk....
Rather that than not having tried.
Stuff is not that important for me.
If I would have lost the MP, I would even be ok with it.
So, it was a calculated risk. And I'm glad I took it!
