One more time.

I'll spare you guys the first 9 minutes of this mission. Not exactly a barnburner.
The bird flew it flawlessly. 7 waypoints, 2.6 miles around the perimeter of the east forty in about 11 minutes. Landed with an (indicated) 70% battery left. Nobody said I couldn't use binoculars to maintain LOS.

Did you use Nd Filter for this video? I'm still learning in Mavic and Phantom 3

Thanks, Nebs. The early sun was a nice warm light in the 3500 range but the haze made the horizon read like it was chrome plated.

Excellent. I was a little reluctant to go that far. I just spent about a half hour trying to get the color balance right. I think this camera has a blue bias. Have you seen a color bias on yours?

As Neb says, I would be using an ND16 for that. Set the colour temperature to a higher value and adjust the exposure using the thmbwheel control on the RC unit. That clip was rather over-exposed.

You have a gift for understatement! That clip was way overexposed. Okay, I'll try the ND16 next. Color temp up, too.

I find the histogram very handy to gauge correct exposure, but you can also use the E value in the display as well, just adjust the E value with the thumbwheel until it reads zero. You can test this out on the ground without even flying to get the hang of it.

Funny you should mention the histogram. That's what I was using this afternoon to correct the settings. Weather permitting, I'll get some more test footage tomorrow.

Where you are, I imagine you would need the ND16 all the time. Where I am in Australia, it is very bright as well, and I never take the ND16 off my camera.

Good to know. I'm going to test the ND4, 8, 16 and a circular polarizer.

Yeah, I gave up on circular polarizers. They have to be adjusted for the sacene for best effect and you can get some pretty styrange patterns when using them.

Aloha DT,

Just the FAA says you cannot comply with the Part 107 Regulations unless VLOS is attained without visual aid other than corrective lenses.  But if you want to see a P3S that far away, you would need corrective lenses, like binos!  LOL!!!

Aloha and Drone On!

I was just thinking about flying over water. It might help when over high key incidental light (as long as its oriented correctly).
