I always wanted to get a video of the Javelina heard in my back yard. The other day I caught a glimpse of a black spot moving about .25 miles away. (See Google Earth view) Using the binoculars I saw they were the Javelinas.

  

I had one battery charged up so I went for it. The sun was low and it made it hard to find them with all the shadows. I keep to a high altitude since they have acute hearing (very poor eyesight) but they did hear me coming and scattered. After a few minutes they were OK with the buzzing noise and went on their merry way.

  

Javelinas have a scent gland on the top of their rump covered by long hairs. They will rub their scent on rocks and tree stumps to mark their territory, as well as rubbing the scent on each other to help with identification. As seen in frame 0.40.

  

Other names for the Javalina are Peccary and Skunk pig.

Javalina

Great job. Never heard of javelinas now I’ve seen and heard them, learn something new every day around here, love the music, wonderful video.

Excellent, well done.   I couldn’t decide if that one was trying to figure out where the racket was coming from or just doing its normal wary thing?

We had a pack come through camp when in Big Bend SP last time were there. Funny because the guys in the tent next to us had just left to try to spot some. I showed them the pictures I took of them sniffing around their tent when they got back . Lol

You are correct.
The Javelina is the official mascot of Texas A&M University–Kingsville. The mascot is paraded during official school events and games. Over the years, various mascots named Henry, Henrietta, Little Henry, Scrappy and Porky have held the honor as official mascot.

Aloha Houdini,

     Good catch with the Javalina!  Nice zoom use of DaVinci Resolve to.  Now, I would never have thought about the sound track!  Nice job.  Mahalo!
