Hi all,

Has anyone had a chance to test the time/motion lapse to see what the longest one is you can do on the battery alone? Theres every chance that I wont have the new wifi/BT dongle before I take my OP on holiday and wondering what it can do without external power.

TIA

Buy a power bank. I got 2 hours with my phone connected but it seems to have been charging the phone so the results don't count.

Hi, thanks for the inquiry. The operating time of our Osmo Pocket is 140 mins (When shooting 1080p/30 fps video), however, You could set the duration of motion/time lapse into infinite but it would depend on the capacity of your SD card. Thank you for the support.

OK thanks for the details. I expected the device would power down slightly when not actively shooting and would extend the battery life. I'll just have to get external power to do overnight timelapses then.

How do you get that? I can only find 5 hrs as a maximum time.

Try the first option which is the infinite logo (a horizontal 8)

I tired last night on infinite and managed to get 2hrs from the battery alone, so anything longer will require additional power.

Also note that infiniate is only avalable in time lapse and not motionlapse as motionlapse needs to know how long to do the movement over. Obvious when you think about it!

Right. I found it. I would expect it to go 3hrs, 5hrs, infinity not infinty, 3min, 5 mins...

You're most welcome. Please feel free to use our new Osmo Pocket. Thank you for continued support.

Are you saying you only got 2 hours connected to an external battery as if you are it must not have been charging. There is still a slight power drain when connected but should go way beyond 2 hours. Use a battery with a 2A output

I have tried a couple of time-lapse session in cold winter with only internal battery.
Day 1 (-3C) : Start with 100%, 50 mins shooting, 40% left
Day 2 (-5C) : Start with 82%, 70 mins shooting, turned off at last shooting
Day 2 (-1C) : Start with 100%, 90 mins shooting, 12% left

Your mileage will be very depend on the temperature.
To extend, I would suggest insulate or keep warm your PO and external battery.

My shooting situation was cold and windy as you can see from the video inked. And I didn't use any insulation or keep PO warm.

My guess is that with 10,000mAh external battery, 5hr is achievable.

No thats the capacity of the battery and doesnt affect the output power but will double its duration. Im running a test now doing a timelapse connected to an external battery and so for in 40 min its down to 85% but thats with the wireless module attached. Its on infinity for duration and 3 seconds

I have now been running it for 2.5 hours but the battery discharge for unknown reasons stopped discharging at 77% and it has remained at 77% for the past hour so looks like you can just run continuous on external power but have no idea why it discharged to 77%
