Fellow Drone Pilots,
I know that this is a little nerdy...but I think there are many of us here that are that way. Drones pilots in my opinion are part pilot/technician/nerd/geek because it is part mechanical/hands on and part software/technology...anyway sorry for the rambling.

Anyway, I have been doing a lot of drone work at construction sites for one of my clients and early on I had already thought about a FAA drone safety vest but hadn't given much thought to a hard hat. So I got to thinking about the whole hard hat thing and being a nerd/geek/artist that I consider myself...I wanted kind of cool unique hard hat that was still practice (would still protect my head) when I ran across these.

I hadn't ever seen these and I thought they were pretty cool. I have already ordered one and will see how I like it but I thought I would share if anyone else was interested and wanted something other than the old plan jane hard hat.

Many sites won't let you on them without a hardhat and a vest. That said, get the one that sits the lowest and is the least obtrusive. You're not out there to make fashion statement and flying a drone out there is draw enough.

Man, I have seen some interesting hardhats on projects (cowboy hats, themed hats) but I've never seen a clear one! You might get some looks but as long as it's ANSI rated it should be fine.

Get a tan dome, while on the job site.. nice vent too.

The mosquitoes will zoom right in... haha

I would suggest getting one that can be adjusted with a knob on the back, that one will fall off the back of your head to easily when looking up at your aircraft. When I worked for the power company I was alway looking up the power poles, my hard hat there had a chin strap to keep it from falling off while looking up. I wear a hard hat every day and looking up is still an issue with an adjustable knob on the back.

I’ve worn a hard hat everyday for 16 years and the Bullard Classic has been the best hard hat for me.

It is ANSI rated. I thought the same thing...I have seen a bunch of other hard hats as well thought this was real unique but still practical/functional

They sell it vented or not vented and it actually has a high SPF rating to keep from dome burn...LOL.

To each his own. A hard hat is a hard hat...I prefer to buy something I like and is a little different as long as it is still practical...I have a few plain Jane ones I have used for construction photography before. I just like to represent my creative business in a more "colorful" fashion. I went with the blue...which isn't to crazy...let someone else order the pink one.

Nope...that unfortunately is all I have to work with. The reason I am always behind the camera...LOL and usually wearing a hat outside...nothing worst than burned dome.

I just think of clothing optional Wreck Beach, near UBC in Vancouver... haha

Not sure how a drone operator would be accepted.  Probably not favourably. ;-)

Even with a wide brimmed hat. Hahaha

UPDATE: OK...so my divided interests are showing. I got my hardhat in and I put the appropriate graphics for what I will be doing when wearing it (Photography/Drone Photography) but I am still pondering what to put on the front...I thought for sure my name but I am debating should I put "FAA Licensed Drone Pilot" or "Professional Photographer". I am opening it up to the "Masters of the DJI forum".

Let me have it...LOL
