I connected my iPhone XS Max to the Osmo Pocket through a Lightning-to-USBC cable, and it's wonderful.  I don't have to have the two physically mated, and there are plenty of times that this is a great way to have it.  You boot the app after everything is connected physically, and it works.

I wanted to have the app controls without having to have the camera hanging on the phone.  I can then put the phone in my pocket and just use the camera (with the cable conneted to the bottom still) freely.  There are MANY scenarios in which having them separate is an advantageous approach.

Another option is to use the side adaptor via a female-to-male Lightning cable, but why have the little Pocket adaptor on the side i the first place unless you are going to have your phone there as an attached monitor/control unit?

If any of you try this, let us know how you use it.  Sure, the Bluetooth base unit accessory will do the same thing, but who has one yet, and who will want it to be adding bulk to the base of the camera if their application is handheld filming?

Best to all!

Hi, thanks for sharing this tip. Glad that it went well on your end by doing this kind of process. No worries, the wireless module will be available soon for you to connect your device wirelessly to the Osmo Pocket. We do appreciate your patience. Thank you for continued support.

Thank you so much for this trick! Does the device charge the phone this way?

Or conversely, does the phone charge the device?

So, the USB-C charging connector will also function like the regular smartphone connector?

I would think that a lightening connector extension would be a better option, still allowing charging.

Yes, which bothers me.  I don't need it charging my phone.  Wish it went the other way.

Why would you think so?

I think only at times, and those would be when you want the Osmo to sit on a surface while filming.

Wish it did charge the Osmo.

With the relatively short battery life, it might be advantageous  to have it externally powered up, whether hand held, or mounted.

Just got my cable adapter USBC to Big USB So I just plug in a standard USB Cable to my phone and it works well. You do need to take out the top phone adapter though if not it seems to default to that one.

This could be handy in certain situations Me things
