Can this controller display live video through the DP/HDMI ports whilst flying or is it just for recording playback?
I am sure there is a manual I should go read... but I was unable to find one yet.

I found this in the FAQ but is still unclear.

2. What ports does the DJI Smart Controller have?
An HDMI port (that supports 4K video output), microSD card slot, a USB type-C port, and a USB-A port. Through these ports, you can output video, insert a microSD card, charge the controller, and more.

Hi, thanks for the inquiry. The external monitor can be used with the Smart remote controller through the HDMI cable whilst flying the drone. Please let us know if you have other concerns. Thank you for the support.

Maybe you misunderstood... I was not talking about the built in display.

Built in display shows 1080p you don’t need HDMI for this.

I was actually talking about the HDMI port in my OP.

So we are clear I was asking about live feed from the HDMI port to share with a spotter.

haha. I am talking about the smart controller. It's all good.

The Smart Controller has a HDMI video output that will display live 4K video to a screen you connect it to.
Sorry for the confusion.

No it will only output to other screen in 1080p , but you can watch what you have videoed in 4K 30fps and 4K 60fps although M2 doesn’t shoot in 4K 60fps yet.

Do you know the exact output format? Is 1080 / 50 fps live feed available through the HDMI port?

No but I presume it’s all versions of 1080p, I have searched through the manual but it doesn’t say.

I'd really like to see someone using the HDMI out with all (if any) available options, like can we just output the video feed without telemetry?

OK that makes sense. I feel dumb. No way could the drone stream 4k video to the display and still remain responsive and not laggy. Not enough signal for 4K. Got it.

I think it will even go as low as 720p on the display if the signal degrades enough. Recorded video (4k) is different than the Ocusync 2.0 video stream to the displays I believe. After hallmark007 patiently explained it I watched a few YouTube videos on Occusync 1 vs 2.0 and this helped me to understand.

hello, I have a question I tried to take the image with a video capture device called UltraStudio Mini Recorder of Black Magic Desing of the Dji smart controller and pass it to the wirecast app and thus be able to send to Facebook simulating a newscast or simulating a live television channel

but I can't do it because I don't get the image of the mavic 2 with the smart comtroller to the app

it will be that I have not done some configuration in the control or something

please I would appreciate your help

You can do this too. This shows how to output to a laptop...with a laptop you need an adapter to plug into the USB port....if you want to use a monitor for your spotter don’t use the USB adapter..just plug the other end which is HDMI into the monitors HDMI port...assuming your monitor is 4K you should be good. https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=196776

Hi!

I have the same experience. HDMI out of DJI Smart controller doesn't seam compatible with Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder. Anyone know a way around?

Yes, you can output a clean 1080 feed with no on screen telemetry.  I've done this numerous times working with a local TV station, which is one of the main reasons I went with the SC.  Prior to this, I used the P3P/P4P/P4P+ for several years doing live broadcasts having installed an HDMI module on the older models.  The main advantage here is Occusync2 has a much cleaner video transmission signal.
