I am looking at a turn to the dark side and get an apple to run DJI piolt.

I found a apple air 16 Gig for 349. Just 50 bucks higher than the cheapest ipad mini 2 I can find.

What would you buy?

I would get a Air 2 because it has a anti reflection screen, more RAM and an A8x processor. I've seen my friends air 2 work amazingly with the p3.

Didn't want to spend more than I have too... The mini 2,  form what i have read runs the app fine and the air has the same processor... and is what, 200 bucks cheaper than the air2 ... I an not an apple fan boy and don't want to drink the apple koolaid,,, I just want to fly the P3... and this is all I am going to use this tablet for...

Heck I wished they had a windows app.

I have the Air 2 and its still a struggle to see the screen in bright sunlight.

Good idea.  I changed over to my iPhone 6 Plus and its brighter, although smaller.  My Zeiss Cimemizer will be here tomorrow.  

My iPad mini 2 works just fine..  Sharper screen than the iPad Air also

Off topic but why doesn't apple have a place for a SD card

Me neither not an Apple fan, However I got my iPad Air 2 WiFi + Cellular 64GB because:

a 16GB iPad Air has 12,5GB available storage.

I take pictures and some say (not I) apple is the way to go for editing...  12 GB is nothing when you are shooting raw. Heck 64GB isn't really much either... and i'll not even go into videos...  Also it makes it hard to transfer picture without a SD slot...

Not an Android fan ether but I do like you can use a SD card

Recording is done on the SD card in the camera. I don't understand why you need storage on the tablet ?

Well if you only want to use it for the DJI app then I can see your point. But if you want to do other stuff you need to put it somewhere...

I am using my iPad Mini 2 (32GB) for my P3P. Used it for my P2V+ also. Better than using phone. Get a sun hood as well, hard to see screen on bright day without one.
