I was wondering if it is safe to record long videos with my osmo mobile 2 holding the shaft near horizontal with the phone horizontal pointing downwards at a table. I uploaded a photo I hope it makes sense. I dont want to damage the mechanisms as I would be holding in its typical up and down orientation.

I think you're right.

properly balanced the shown orientation is no problem for the osmo mobile 2.
