I plug in the OP supplied cable onto my PC (Carbon-X Lenovo), but nothing happens/ nor I can see the device on the File Explorer. Any suggestions?

Make sure the phone adaptor is either removed, or in the storage position (contacts facing right), connect to pc with cable, power op on, acknowledge pop-up message on op screen.
