I have the log and I was descending and was at 672ft, when the app disconnected I could still see height and distance on the controller and it flew to a height of 1000ft and a distance of just over 8000ft before landing.

I am not in the mood for arguing, I know what happened, you don't! If I had not had the Remote Control Communication Error I could have landed it as I was descending fine until that happened.

Just trying to help - Good luck

"I have also seen comments of the last few days about the latest firmware causing issues with the Mavic Pro, if there were issues why did DJI not issue a roll back, fix or comms around not flying until it is resolved."

There have been no recent updates to the Mavic Pro firmware, but there have been for the Mavic 2 Pro so that shouldn't have affected your flight. Without seeing the phantom help flight record it is impossible to even suggest what may have caused your loss. Although it does seem likely that wind speed was a factor given your description.

It will be interesting to see what DJI say as they rarely, if ever, give any precise detail as to cause.

The wind velocity warning had gone and I was descending fine so not sure how it can be the wind from my description! Had been flying all morning with no issue. Again, I am not sure how the wind caused a "Remote Control Communication Error" leaving the app to freeze as I had total control until that point.

I am not hopeful at all of a psoitive outcome from DJI!

"The wind velocity warning had gone and I was descending fine so not sure how it can be the wind from my description!"

You were at 1000ft above take off point so may have been subject to very strong wind, in post 37 you mention that the drone was moving with considerable speed (100mph). Now the Mavic Pro can do about 40 mph in sports mode, and with a 30mph tail wind would take it to 70mph ground speed.
So for the sake of discussion IF there was a 30mph wind, and RTH was initiated, then in RTH mode the aircraft speed is about 22mph. So if it were trying to RTH against the wind then it would not stand a chance of getting home. And if close to mountains or in valley may have lost GPS & switched to ATTI mode which would leave it completely to the mercy of any wind.

These are things that you will perhaps have seen in the phantom help record, at least to the point of the disconnection. If DJI Go 4 App' crashed then it is possible that no log was created.

Are you saying you were at over 1000 feet high? Is that even allowed in England/ Wales. There is no way you can see a drone at 8000 feet out 1.5 miles. Kind of curious as I am on a trip there in July. In the US it is against suggested rules to be flying like that.Or did you get in an updraft from the mountains that pushed you that high.it looks like you should not have been flying in windy conditions.I have been flying now for 5 years and yes in the early days I had problems. Now I feel DJI do a great job and any problem I have had they fixed.I have been flying my Mavic 2 zoom.An amazing craft.I love it but I stick to US rules. Never out of sight and never higher than 400 feet.

Answer is simple: Upload flight logs >> Found HW issue >> DJI replaces >> User fault >> User pays for it.
No changes I have seen in rules. This is my 3rd DJI pro.

You are correct regarding U.K law, as of end of July 2018 it is a criminal offence to fly higher that 400 feet above ground level (or within 1km of an airport boundary). Many parts of the U.K are used by RAF and NATO for low flight practice, with ultra low flight down to 100 feet, two of the main areas being the North of Scotland and Central Wales.

If your visiting U.K this year then perhaps you may find the following useful:-

https://www.gov.uk/low-flying-in ... -low-flying-happens

https://dronesafe.uk/drone-code/

Much the same as USA in many respects, keep away from people, buildings and busy areas.
Max' 400ft AGL, VLOS, more than 1km from any airport boundary (these are the two specifics laws at present, the others are recommendations).

Wow you have some serious issues!! I don't know how to post the logs you absolute MORON!

Also my comments about 100mpH and 8000ft people have misunderstood and taken out of context! I never said I could see it at 8000ft away and the 100mph was an example based on it moving away from us despite us chasing it at 60mph!!

In comment #5 Woe pointed you to where you can upload the logs to:

https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/

The site also gives the instructions on how to to that.

Please don't insult the members here. We have so far been quite understanding and willing to help, coming up with assumption as to what could have happened, as well as quite a large amount af sympathy.

El Diablo, that is out of line too! Can we keep it civil on these forums, please?

fans837a2358, you called him names first, after he pointed out the lack of logs, which forum members (not DJI) could inspect so as to come with some concrete analysis of the situation.

Please upload here
https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
and post the resulting link.

Before the forum members have a chance to look at the logs (even in their shortened form), there is no point in continuing this thread.

75 replies on the thread and still no flight log???
I’m sorry but this all points out to me that it was a pilot error.
1.Flying higher than legally permitted
2.Flying at very strong winds, that are greater than the Mavic Pro can handle, (people here told us exactly what the winds were at that altitude at that time)
In know it sucks, because I also lost my first Spark due to flying high and with very strongs winds, plus at night. All that was done due to my inexperience, that happened on my second day of flying drones.
Now I downloaded the Uavforecast app, it’s great and very useful app, it tells you how strong the winds are every 100 meters, up to 1500 meters where you at.
So I always check it before I fly now.

Fly safely all
Alex
