Just wondering if a P5 would come out this year, it will be hard to beat the M2pro/zoom.  Just excited on what DJI have up their sleeves for the P5.  Can't wait to own another Phantom series.
What are the chances that we are getting a P5?

I know but these are laws of physics.... proven multiple times by ppl smarter than me and you.... and dji as well, but that was not such a feat.

With the problems of not even being able to produce the V2, it may be a toss up . Something strange going on.

DJI have done/said nothing ever.
Leaked pix have been around over a year and none since late October.
If you can see something definite in that, I'm puzzled as to what it might be.

Just a guess knowing DJI have always something up their sleeves.  Almost positive that something is in the works for a newer generation Phantom.

As I said, it's been up their sleeves for a year now.
There's no indication that DJI are in any hurry to release anything.
Look for FCC approvals.  They are the best indication something is in the works.

Why would DJI do that?
It eliminates any flexibility for those that want a bigger tablet or to be able to use 3rd party apps.
What you're calling a "smart RC has been around for over two years now but DJI have always made that just an option.

I like the Mavic Pro remote, love the info display, so if the device crashes or battery dies, you still have relevant information on the remote screen, this would be a great addition to a new Phantom, hell, they may no longer call it a phantom
