You'll need to connect the Mavic to DJI GO in order to get the Waypoints icon to appear. After you enter the Waypoints section of DJI GO, you can edit the mission and save it even if the Mavic is powered down.

I'm afraid that you have to be connected to our drone for you to create a waypoints path, however, you could save that the waypoint that you've made and brought it up once you're on your plan or location to execute the waypoint. Unfortunately, this method does not work. As soon as you turn off the drone's power, everything goes off.

It's only possible if you're using an Apple device.
