In manual settings you are dialled in so the exposure is fixed and as the light changes from a balanced exposure to being over exposed during the shoot the variable aperture is the way to control it. I could have left it but then run the risk of not seeing the details in the cliff due to over exposure. I'm sure I could have perfected it if I did it again but had too much else to try out there. Using auto or priority settings would have been more subtle in the shift but I prefer to control everything myself. I wouldn't have had to touch the aperture in a less powerful sun. I don't think this is due to the drone in any way - it's purely me adjusting the settings to match the environmental conditions.

Fully understand and I agree that without your adjusting some of the footage would likely have been wrongly exposed.
An inspire 2 with the interchangeable camera can, I believe, change apertures stepless for fhe reasons I mentioned.
Perhaps its worth to start a separate thread asking DJI if they could implement this on the Mavic. It should be possible and would prevent what I saw in your interesting video. |
