Hello everyone!
On April 6th 2019 the first GPS rollover since 1999 is happening! GPS counters are resetting to zero which might mess with our equipment and that's why you probably shouldn't fly your drone on that day!

More info in this short video!

Might be! The counters are resetting, but manufacturers have probably prepared for it so it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks for sharing - let's hope that GLONASS is not affected as DJI drones also use Russian satellites for positioning

Yeah, and Y2k is going to wipe out civilization as we know it. Don't let them scare you, you'll be just fine.

i think thats really only old GPS systems that may be impacted - i would seriously doubt that a mavic would be impacted

Units made in the years 2004 and before so I think we’re good...

Marked and ready. Might even give it a day for a few people to test the GPS out.

The aircraft also has a receiver for GLONASS GNSS that shouldn't be affected at all. I doubt we'll notice any affect.

Edit:- A meaningful explanation Here

Will Do. I was one of the millions who bought a generator during the y2k scare. Didn't need it until 2 years later when an ice storm knocked out the power to our area for a week. I live in the country and was one of the last to be fixed. So i've decided to not fly 2 years from the this april 6th.

This is not a flaw, bug, or any other issue. This is part of the GPS design specification. All manufacturers have known this has been coming for 19 years. What will likely happen on the 27th or ANY DAY FOLLOWING IT is this....the first time you go to fly after the rollover is that your system needs to resync the week data, this should take no more than a few seconds longer than normal to acquire GPS lock. Whether it is the exact day of the rollover, or months later, the first time any GPS unit powers on, it just needs to reset its internal date, this is a BUNCH of fear mongering from people that don't understand what it happening.
