Nah, the only risk is that you might be distracted.
Turning off BT should be enough.

Hello and good day Catwalsh55. Thank you for reaching out. It's not necessary to put your device in Airplane mode but make sure there is no such calls/text message or any notification that will interrupt you when using your device while flying. In addition using the airplane mode while flying would lessen the interference such as wi-fi, Bluetooth as well. Thank you for your support.

I approve DJI Stephen's message.
I was doing a critical flyby the local class of 2018.
My wife calls in the middle of the flight so I am blind to the capture.
Turns out the flyby the class while I was blind was better than the flyby I had FPV

I dont think you should use a phone to fly with , a dedicated tablet is better

I haven't bothered to turn off bluetooth or put my iPhone in aircraft mode in the past. However, it does seem like a good idea to do both. Hopefully, I will remember to do so.

Airplane mode gets "no live map". So no airplane mode it is ;-) Bluetooth off, mobil data on, maybe "do not disturb" on, too

On android devices you have the option to use "Gaming mode" for selected apps. I use it for Go4.
There you can set how notifications and calls should be handled while in app. Block/let through, send calls drectly to speaker and so on.

Yes you can. I sometimes fly using an old iPhone 7 without a sim-card in it.
There's the trouble with no access to maps while flying though...

When you use your iPad on airplane mode do you get to see all the flight futures on your main screen ?

Airplane mode seems to get less interference.
