This is a view from our farm yesterday, a large bushfire, out of control, in a protected forest area. It is about 2 kilometres away from us, but fortunately, not headed in our direction. And yes, that is a huge lick of flame in the middle of the shot.

After a whole day of intense aerial water bombing with helicopters, Erickson Aircranes and conventional aircraft, the fire is still not under control, but has headed off in another direction this morning.

Nice shot mate.

At least the fire is contained to a small area so shouldn't take too much to keep it contained

Not so small, actually 6280 Hectares, or 15,500 Acres. And listed as still out of control. But going the other direction from me :-)

In 2011 we lost our land and all to a wildfire, so know first hand what you mean when you say too close!

Thank you. The fire has moved off in North East direction and has burnt out 5 houses, according to reports. The worrying part for us is that we have sold the farm we are living on, and bought another that is in the path of the bushfire.

Sad to hear about the houses. Wish you the best of outcomes on your new land.
Open grasslands are a spiritual place, but can sure turn into a demon when conditions are ripe.

Aw man, hope all is well with your new place, if not, at least DJI Paladin has offered his help As long as everyone is safe, thats the main thing, insurance should sort out the rest, still, you could do without the worry

Yeah, watching that. The fire seems to have calmed down now, not even much smoke around, and overnight the temperatures have dropped. We just got word from a friend that their house, which was directly in the path of the fire, is OK, but all their stables and shedding was destroyed. Thank you everyone for your well-wishes.

Today the rain is gone, but there are still small fires in the area. But we now have a huge fleet of large water-bombing helicopters based close to us and they are flying continuous missions.

Scary stuff, glad you are OK. Not sure the relevance to drones, though.
