At the moment the topic audio and microphone adapter is a main point about which in many video forums, in many Youtube videos and also in approximately 20 threads here in the forum is discussed.

After all, the DJI support should finally report in detail about the possibilities and limitations of the Pocket's audio system.
It certainly has a reason why the microphone adapter was delivered only 3 months later.

Still, I think that the DJI Pocket is an excellent camera, at least based on the very good picture quality.
But the issue of audio in conjunction with the microphone adapter puts the pocket in disrepute.

Please DJI Support help us!!

I agree with Udo above but I have had to reach my own conclusions that it is mono to all intents and purposes.
If it was true stereo then a signal recorded only to the left channel should mainly be on the left channel with minimum crosstalk and it just isn't.
I tried adjusting a line level input into the Osmo Pockets audio adapter to give a 0dBm signal to avoid the possibility of microphone crosstalk and then used my PCs sound driver to do a left-right channel check.
I also checked the audio noise reduction on the Osmo pocket was switched off during recording.
This was the result.

At best I could describe it as dual mono with some phase variance. Both channels should not have given identical volume output levels at the same time.

I would think if the USB adapter was stereo it would be marketed as such and say so on the packaging. I saw spomeoe post yesterday they had some weird issue with their rolan stereo mic connected to the adapter, and to me that suggests its a mono adapter and what they heard was phasing betwixt the left and right channels.

All other handheld osmo gimbal products that include the flexi mic are mono correct? This is an osmo product so it would stand to reason this is also mono. Maybe its a software limitation? Just speculation...

Haha, there are/were ONLY DJI adapters for USB C and lightning - noooo adapters
for microUSB. NOW you get such adapters for low price from second sources.
I'll bet soon there are working mic adapters for 1/10 of DJI price!

It's like CANON ink cartridges, they are protected by a chip with higher code
than military code ... after short time you get same ink cartridges from second sources
for 1/10 price - with same quality!

Inside is not simple line connection. What kind of chip is inside?

Hi. There won't be a DAC on it, if anything there may be the reverse, an ADC. Which given the size of the adaptor and the bump, there's a good chance that there is.

Cheers.
Dave.

GoPro audio adapter contains Conexant ADC CX 20812

I think OP audio adapter is similar, haha, Yi 4K+ and SJ8 Pro have built in ADC, so
a mic with USB C connector is enough ... or a mic adapter for $ 0.66 :-)

Thank you for the teardown. How did you manage to get it so clean to look at?
Very interesting.
I wonder if there is any way of looking up the component specifications?

Thank you for that.
Fast work.
I was interested that the ADC page also takes you to this page.
http://www.ti.com/product/PCM1861?qgpn=pcm1861#
With further user documentation.
It seems to be a very high-quality chipset and makes sense of the Osmo Pockets audio output specified capabilities.
I'd be interested in what David Harry makes of it. An SNR of 110dbm seems as useful as can be managed.  I can't make out whether it is mic and line-in capable or just one of the options capable.
