Hello DJI Pilots!
For some time, the distance in the forums is shown in imperial ft.

The reason for that is named as "...most of the users are using the imperial unit..."

It seems that not only I have trouble to believe, that the imperial "world" is bigger as the metric universe.
Also I understand this forum as a global forum, not just one for US-americans.
Which is another point to believe, that someone got the numbers wrong, I think.

So I now open a poll in the spark section, to ask the pilots how they wanna see the flight distance shown in here:
In meters , in foot, in meters and foot or as a choice for the user.
You have two click-options, use them!

But please use it for 1. choosing between 1 and 2 plus 2. choosing  between 3 and 4

My personal choice, obviously, would be back to meter or both at the same time.
(just saying, don't feel pushed ;-)

And how about that people with different DJI models are opening polls like this in the Phantom and Mavic and .... sections, too?
To get a better result.

Thanks for participating

Edit: I added a "don't care" option.

If we are going to take "imperial" from the Americans, why not go all the way and spell "metres" the way most of the rest of world does?
Does it sound strange to you that America would adopt anything with the title "imperial". I suppose you could say it really isn't the classic imperial measurement system - they seem to have borrowed inches, feet and miles but don't seem too keen on yards, chains, rods, perches etc. Even the tonne is different.

To be honest, I don't really mind which system we use - I have spent more than half of my life converting from one to the other and will suffer no real inconvenience continuing to do so.

But how many DJI Drone Pilots aren't even half you age?
Without having a clue, what "ft" is, without google?
And conversion, Gen Y, Gen Z,  what about the smartphone battery is down, the calculator not at hand?

The solution would be, in my opinion:

Flight distance:
xxxxx ft   ≈/=  xxxxx m

You missed my choice - Don't Care.  When I see meters I just convert it to feet (approx) in my head.  It's good mental practice.  DJI runs the forum so they can post it any way that they want to.

I got that, just thought to point out that lots of people have no experience with conversions from metric to imperial or vice versa.

But actually forgot to put a "don't care" option in , that time.
Did that now! :-)

Then I would have to dust of my slide-rule.

The poll options are quite confusing tbh, especially the option to select two.
eg: If I select 1 and 2, does it mean I want both (option 3) or a choice between the two (option 4)?

Really?
Oh wait, is black on green a colorblind problem?
I thought that was mostly red/green?
Anyway, changed to orange!

But please use it for 1. choosing between 1 and 2 plus 2. choosing  between 3 and 4

lol...you expect people to read the whole damn thing?
I chose option 1. It is anyway DJI's call whether they give us option 3 or 4.
Right now let us just prove them wrong about "most users use imperial units".

It would be great to be able to choose. I'd pick meters since ft is of no relevance to me what so ever.

It doesn't matter really which one you use just if you live in different country's I suggest you should use meters so it doesn't become confusing.

April 15, 2019:
I need a short flight of 21 ft, 7m, in the next days.
Can someone tell me, how careful I have to be with height?
I mean, is the start, rising to 2m or such, already a "distance" in the flight record?
I just noticed, that even a almost just vertical flight gets greater distances, as the horizontal one, in the logs.

So one moth later, no changes.
I prepared for the worst, now waiting for the update of my flight distance, in the forum.
Wasn't easy, to fly 21 ft, exactly.

wtf, where are the last 10 ft?
mmmhhh, now there are 8 missing?

DJI, can it be, that your bird can't measure/fly ft, anyway? Meaning the Spark is flying only in meters, and just the Go4 is calculating it up, to ft?
Since I tried yesterday a lot to fly a specific distance (21ft), but could by all means NEVER got one less than 7 ft, I think you are not using ft for/in the birds, anyway.
I got with many tries just 7, 10, 13, 16, 20, 23ft distances.
So why bother with ft in the forum, if not even the birds are using it?
Imperial is a dinosaur!
And I still think, most of DJI Go4s are set to meter.
It is just the US, methinks

I think we should be able to choose how it's displayed in our settings. I noticed a while back that started showing feet and thought it was adjusting settings to my home country. I guess not

You guess right.
And "the reason" for the change is:

-"Considering that most of the users are using the imperial unit, so the forum operation team decided to change the flight distance display from metric unit to imperial. "-

Are really so many more forum users (DJI drone users can't be meant, methinks) from the US, than from "the rest of the world"?

And yes, either choosing or showing both aside/under each other should be the solution.

Nevertheless, do you have a tip, how I can fly JUST 8 ft in a record? ;-)

I'm an American and I still prefer metric over imperial.  Much more precise.

I think a technically minded American who might be a drone pilot is a lot more familiar with meters than a technically minded non American who might be a drone pilot might be familiar with feet. Although I quite imagine most non-American drone pilots would have 2 of them.

Besides, mine are only 9 inches long
