Here's a video showing what I use to help raise the level of my audio recordings in post by using a limiter as gain reduction and then applying a re-summing that helps the master stereo bus output. Luckily, this is all done with hardly any user intervention using the LoudMax VST plugin.
With the internal mic system of the Pocket I just use one of the recorded channels, centre it and then apply the processing.
With my external mics I just apply across both channels.
In the video below I use my NLE to demonstrate the process but this will work for anything that's VST compatible.
There's also a second video which shows LoudMax helping to rescue a recording which was accidentally recorded very low. I have a feeling that this may be very useful for certain Pocket recordings.
I have installed it in Edius and will test it the next weeks.
You probably know the plugins from Izotope, I often used audio-restore for noise removal. But this is no longer possible in Edius8.
Do you know another plugin? I currently use an external program - Audacity

Hi Udo.
I generally don't do much audio post in the NLE. If it's anything beyond simple limiting I'll use my DAW, so can't really advise other plugs for Edius.
As for other plugs. I'm very familiar with most of the stuff out there but once you find a handful of plugs that work for you, I tend to find that most things don't sound too different and many plugs become very similar, with the exception of very specific odd ball plugs.
For me, LoudMax is perfect and does its particular job very well.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info.
So far, I'm actually doing very little with audio

Hi Udo.
I'd recommend that before you start paying for VST plugins, some of which can be quite expensive. Maybe do some Google & YouTube searches for the best free VST plugins. It may be the case that you find things that are perfect for your use. I'd always suggest that if you find anything for free and it works well for you, make a small donation to the developers.
For your particular use within the NLE, Edius' VST-plugin bridge isn't always compatible with certain revisions of the VST protocol or certain plugins. Although you can find stuff that works really well.
