An option on my P4P v2 controller is to sync my flights with the DJI company.  Why would I want to do that?  Why would they ask? What do they do with the millions of flight logs?

Reasons why you might want to:
You have a warranty claim and DJI need to examine the flight data for the incident.
You want to show a big number for your total flight distance in the forum
You get a new phone/tablet and want to keep records from your old one.

What DJI does with them?
Probably not much apart from incident analysis for warranty claims.
They might also do some analysis to help with product development.

Pretty naive take on how big data works and is used.

The rule of thumb regarding apps is:

"If you're not paying for the product, you ARE the product..."

(which of course doesn't mean that if you ARE paying, you're NOT the product...)

What I stated is a comprehensive answer to the question that was asked and far from naive.

I agree,  i cannot see what they could gain from using our data other than whats been stated above
