hello ,

just been flying and midflight , dji go app on smartcontroller quits . i have to reopen which is done very quick , but this should not be happening.
Please info developers to investigate.
new smart controller , version v 1.00.440
mavic 2 pro all updated with latest firmware

anybody experiences this problem?
maybe time for a new firmware update , very quickly please as date bug 2013 is still not solved

Do you think that the time change to Midnight triggered the app crash or just a coincidence or was it merely around midnight?

I guess you could test by changing the time on the controller to just before and see what happens.

Maybe I needed to get my reading glasses adjusted - the problem is that I don't wear reading glasses.  Maybe I should (g)

I downgraded fw from .440 to .400 , see if dji go still will crash. Did a few flights, so far so good. Will post if it will quit again

I must admit that I did read it as midnight myself at first and thought the same but on second glance - mid-flight

For your info....Altough I don’t have the smartcontroler, the app itself is crashing 4-8 times during a 20-25 minutes flight and ALWAYS midflight. I’m using Mavic 2 Zoom with a Samsung Galaxy 3 Tablet and ALL devices have the latests firmware and/or updates. I’ve reported these app-crashes to DJI-support recently and waiting for their reply  including a sollution.

Well I don't have that firmware and I have use assistant 2 to check for updates. But I didn't see that thread. But according to the release notes from dji it is not release yet and the last one was in the beginning of March. So I'm in the US and probably have not release it here yet. No problems yet with the Smart Controller since I got it in late January, it just works great. Thanks for the info to

I’m 100% sure it’s the app but it seems these crashes only occur with Android devices. IOS works better.

What do you mean with flightmode?
I switch everything on, wait for all the satelites and the “ready to go” sign.....and of I go....untill the app crashes

Yes all is switched off and in flight mode. I tried everything....switched all off and all on wether it was a Android or IOS device. But the problem of crashing seems to occur on a Android device ONLY. Several forums are loaded with simular complaints.

Hmmm, i have the crystal sky , which is also android and latest fw amd update, but in the last thre months it only froolze maybe twice. The smartcontoller only stopped twice during 2 seperate flights. But not as many times like yours.  Maybe your device isnt fast enough? Like the chip in it?
But anyhow the dji go app shouldnot stop at all , not once, thats not good and dji should investigate with their outsourced app developer and fix this.

I have been having major issues with the DJI Go 4 app crashing while the Mavic 2 is in flight. Tonight it happened more than 7 times in 30 minutes.
I was using my iPad today on the secondary controller and it was the only way I could complete the flights.
Please let me know what I can do.
There are no errors other than a message saying “DJI Go 4 app stopped working, restart?”

Close all the other programmes , turn off blue tooth and wifi.
Also clear the cache or completely disable it.
Refresh the app( like shutting it off completely the way you close all other apps) if it doesnt work still then delete app and load it again

I have done all of the above other than deleting the app. I am not sure how to reinstall the app on the smart controller after I delete it.
I also reset the smart controller to factory settings. Issue persisted.

It's happening the same for me. Smart controller plus Mavic 2 pro. All running latest firmware and software.

Constant go 4 crashes on the smart controller, mid flight. Very unnerving.

I'm having the same problem. I use the SmartController and the app crashed 3 times mid flight.

I have the same problem on my Mavic Zoom and Smart Controller

I also have the same issue. The Go4 app will crash usually once for every flight.
I'm using the DJI Smart Controller version 01.00.0530 and Go4 is v4.3.16(754-official)

I have come to the conclusion that it happens when I ask too much from the controller.
Example: As I fly around, I click to change to photo mode and as soon as the menu shows, I hit setting. but if the menu does not update quickly I hit settings again  and that's when the app will gor to "not responding". I have to actually let the system process my request first (even if it takes a few seconds) and usually I can avoid to restart the App.
Any update on this issue?

ah ok,
i was using a 128gb , which I also changed for 32gb as I was thinking that this 128gb card was causing a response delay when I pressed for example record button etc. I heard it Is best to
clear all caches , close all other applications , turn off bluetooth and wifi , this might prevent shutting down the dji go app. also I read that the order of turning on the drone is important, first smart controller , and app and then drone. Hope maybe an update comes or an answer from dji what can  cause this

I have had that same issue for day 1 with my SC and M2P. Today it got so bad that the Go4 app would close every 20 seconds. Something is def wrong.

Is the app crashing or returning to the "Enter Device" screen?

I have the Smart Controller and also thought it was crashing every 20s.  Turns out I was catching the DJI logo on screen with my thumb (I pinch the sticks rather than thumb them) and this takes you back one  screen.

It got so bad I almost sent it back.

Check how you hold your sticks and where your thumbs are.  I taped a piece of card over the corners of the screen which proved my theory.  I then designed and 3d printed some thumb rests.

I just tried to do another distance test at night (so I could see how far I could get with an FAA approved light) and it did it 8000 ft out. I have no extra installed apps or the like. keep things clean. By now, I suspect it's a hardware issue.

I have the same problem - but apparently only if I switch to VIDEO - when in photo mode, nothing happens. Strange - and they should fix it asap !!!

two or three or four app crashes today only, first time in months.  nothing else has changed.

We have two Mavic 2 pros , both with the smart controller. The newest one is rock sold, but is less than 1 month old.

The original one, which was also replaced under warranty has now started crashing the DJi go4 app mid flight.

It happens on every flight now, so we need to fix it.

Any ideas on what to look at first? Memory and apps?

try it without the sd card in if you have one

Or use a sd card less then 64gb
Like 16 or 32gb.

Have same problem with new S/W

as shared earlier,  majority of this kind of blackouts are caused by high cache files or slow W/R SD cards on SC or drone. Since  I addressed these , never ever experienced similar issue. Yes,  if  still happens as a result of any other reason(s),  just calm down and relax.Panicking could be worse and last thing you should do. Restart the apps and if not,  just press the RTH bottom on SC  to call back your drone to the take off point. Go4Apps +SC and M2P are  kind of trio bakes the problem either individually or jointly so we should not see the SC always as culprit.
