Flew low over the water, sideways. The water was extremely smooth that day - the drone didn’t maintain altitude and touched the water. I climbed back up and a few seconds later, the drone was already on its way home, it disconnected and was gone. I suspect salt water has gotten inside and fried the electronics. I completely blame myself.

Sorry to know that. May I know if you already created a ticket regarding this incident? I tried to look for your case using your forum email, unfortunately, I can't find any information about a flyaway case.  

I swear I've seen this vid before.  I suspect it's been posted before.

If/when flying in sports mode, it can lose some altitude when moving quickly, is this what happened? it does not loose a lot but if already close to the water a foot or so can be drastic

Just wondering, did you turn the vps off before your flight ?

Thank you for looking into this but I haven’t submitted anything. I don’t think there was a flyaway. The drone was flying towards me and was maybe 300-400 m away. I would had probably seen in a flyaway. I strongly suspect that it shut down and simply crashed into the sea. Like I said, i blame myself and not DJI as i was flying too low to begin with and i should have not relied on that the drone will maintain altitude. Especially over smooth water.

I wasn’t flying in sports mode but it still descended a bit. But I was too low and took the risk anyway. I blame myself as there was no margin for error.

I didn’t. Maybe I should have but I never bothered to dive into the menu in between taking shots. But good point, thank you. Maybe next time - I bought a M2 Pro as replacement

Ha Ha, exactly. We have pushed our P4 quite a bit in the past and got away with some silly stuff. Not this time I am afraid. Rise and learn!

It’s ok. To mourn my loss, i immediately ordered a M2 because a replacement for a P4 Pro V2 Unit was out of stock. That helped a bit...
