Hi I have just bought a Spark and have been doing alot of reading up on them. Can anyone tell me if my Samsung j6 will work with the dji software or would i be better getting an old Apple phone from gumtree or ebay.

Hi, thanks for the inquiry. As of the time being, the Samsung j6 device hasn't been tested by our engineers, therefore, the stabilization and if the behavior can't be guaranteed. It may work on your device properly, however, the app reaction may change especially if there are firmware or application updates. For the mean-time, you may check our compatible devices on our DJI Spark. Thank you for understanding.

It can be, you just need to try it.
My 2016 J7 didn't.
But the J6 spec are better.
3 or 4  GB Ram should do, just the quad with 1.4 Ghz could be a bottleneck.
Try it out, use/get a USB cable, perhaps you are lucky!

On ebay, from China, you get them cheaper and it needs 2 weeks or so!

There seems to be 2 different ones for android. Do i need android or type c?

depends on your phone.
I have a type c for my phone and an android for my tablet.
Whatever matches your charge/data port on your device

I guess, the J6 needs a microB ("android")
Just buy the same plug like your charger cable has.

I'm a new spark owner,and last time I flew it using my Samsung J3 orbit,  I didn't even use a cable to connect controller to phone. I just went to connections on my phone, and selected the wi-fi for spark-RC.It seemed to work fine so far.

Just the OTG connection (for droids) is less to disturb as the wifi2remote connection. There it just needs a bluetooth device, sometimes!
