Purchased a Mavic Pro Platinum about a month ago.  Checked with my insurance carrier, Farmers, and they don't do drone insurance.   Thought I could put it on my homeowners.  Guess not.  For liability, what are recreational drone operators buying?   Anything?

I already have Care Refresh.  Im talking about liability insurance in case my drone causes damage to someone else's property.

Not sure where you are based, but this was recommended to me by another drone flyer in the UK https://bmfa.org/Info/BMFA-Insurances/Insurance

I use FPV here in the UK - £19.99 a year for £5,000,000 of cover for recreational use of a drone. Good luck finding something similar in the US.

Don't ask your agent for 'drone insurance', ask for a personal articles policy and then list the drone as the insured item.

I have a PAP through State Farm that covers $1300 USD for $60 a year, $0 deductible. It is a separate policy from my home owners and auto. The underwriter said whatever happens to my drone, it'll be covered.

I also have a $1,000,000 umbrella liability policy through them too.

Does your umbrella cover drones? If so through who. I also have state farm coverage                                   but only personal articles policy.
I have had them for a few years and I was told they don't cover liability drone insurance.
I have both my Mavic's and my goggles covered, had my P3A covered before I sold it.

Is the $1,000,000 liability insurance part of the $60 PAP indurance?  Or is the Umbrella liability insurance  separate?  If so....roughly how much is that?  Does the umbrella cover other liability scenarios as well as your drone?

The personal liability umbrella runs $137 a year and is a separate policy from the PAP, Home, Auto. I've read through the policy and there is no specific wording about drones, but there is mention of aircraft so perhaps it wouldn't cover a drone accident. Note that I didn't purchase this to cover liability due to a drone accident, my agent simply suggested it while we bought our Home & Auto insurance a while back.

Here is the actual policy if you care to read through it:

Same here regarding renewal - cert looks legit and they are authorised by the CAA so can't go wrong

Never had to use it, touch wood I won’t ever have to but it’s so well priced it’s a no brainier. Long as you fly legally you are covered.

It's good to just have the certificate in the bag so if a council operative comes onto an RC field you can show them the cert and they can turn back around and do one lol

Try either "droneinsurance.com"  OR "avioninsurance.com/uav-drone-insurance"   You'll find coverage with one of these.

I'm afraid $1M wouldn't do much for a liability suit if your drone managed to hit someone causing them injury (or not).
