Hi There,

I am trying to update my Smart Controller to the latest firmware (530), using the latest version of the DJI Assistant 2 For Mavic, however it gets to 16%, the Smart Controller beeps a few times then switches off.
A little while later it beeps a few times again and I get a message of 'The device connection is unstable'.

Anyone else having/had this issue and now what the problem is.

P.S. I do not have a SD card installed.

Thanks,
Nick

I did update yesterday via the SC itself (not using PC/Assistant2) and ALL worked fine!!! No problems at all. Latest FW and DJI Go4 app latest version installed automatically.

Some folks have suggested trying another usb port, possibly a usb2 or one that is connected to the main board of the computer whereas some usb ports are actually hubs via internal wiring.  Also try using the cable that came with the SC for charging it.

I also tweaked the SC's Display settings to make timeout 30 minutes just so it might not timeout.

I have never been successful in updating FW through Assistant 2.

Just decided to try again on my brand new SC. Tried 3 times, all faild at 96%.

I then switch on SC’s wifi and get the update promt immediately. Igoring the warning that only update on Assistant 2, the update on its own was pretty smooth and complete inprobably 10 minutes.

Yeah a friend of mine updated seamlessly using the Smart Controller to take care of everything in about 15 minutes where I had two hours of frustration and five failed update attempts using DJI Assistant.

Why then did DJI state you could only do the update using Assistant 2.08?

It might have saved me hours of grief if I had ignored their ‘advice’ and just used the Smart Controller to update in the first place.
And it’s almost as if DJI knew there was going to be an issue as the very last line seems quite prophetic for many of us!

Notes:
        •        This firmware version contains important updates, and the Smart Controllercan only be updated to this firmware version via DJI Assistant 2. Download the latest DJI Assistant 2, and follow the steps in the System Update section in the DJI Smart ControllerUser Manual. Download DJI Assistant 2 at https://www.dji.com/mavic-2/info#downloads.
        •        Contact DJI Support if the update fails several times.

I have also tried on several occasions to update on the SC itself and it hangs on 0%.

Like I said above I am using the latest version of DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic. I am also using the USB cable that came with the device as some people suggest not doing so can cause a problem.

Trying updating the smart controller with out the sd card installed. But first to turn off the smart controller hold the power button down to at least 10 seconds and see if the controller turns off. Remember to download the lastest version to assistant 2

Please help! Nothing works! I tried to update with win10 and win7, but updating didn't start (0%...). I can't control my SRC, because it just shows the dji logo after restarts. What to do?

I’ve just spent over 2 hours trying to update my smart controller. Finally got it done! Here is what I found in case it saves someone wasting their time.

- I couldn’t update the Smart Controller (SC) over the wifi, it just hangs on 0%. I had to use my MAC and usb cable.
- I downloaded DJI Assistant V2.08 from the DJI site for my MAC
- On the SC go into settings-Display-Sleep and set it to 30mins to avoid it beeping and turning off during the update.
- Make sure you have a full charge on the SC
- Turn off the SC, then using the DJI flat USB cable supplied with the drone, plug directly into the MAC (not a USB hub, tried this and it didn’t work)
- Start DJI Assistant and turn on the SC
- It should detect the SC and then will come up with current version and latest version. In my case I was updating to V01.00.0530
- Don’t tap any of the windows that appear on the SC.
- DJI Assistant will go through Downloading 0 to 100%- Transmitting 0 to 100% - Updating 0 to 100%. It took about 15 mins when it finally worked. It took 8 attempts to make it through.
- In the final updating phase it seems to hang at 16% for a few mins, then similar delay at 98%
- SC restarts a couple of times near the end before it moves from 98% to 100%

Yep , its time out that causes the update to fail or hang !! As it disconnects tge controller from computer !!

I had same issues too. Died at 16%.

Update to latest Assistant2

Turn off screen timeout (I think this was the main issue) DJI really needs to put this in their tutorial.

Worked! thanks for the help. Every time I seemto use the DJI software products, its a headache.

also want to mention, the Assitant2 said it didn't finish at 98%, but the SC says it was completed successfully. I checked the SC current firmware and it appears to be correct.

Will update Mavic2 Zoom now...

if you connect the SC back to the Assistent2, it will tell you if it needs update or not. Check once more, if assistent2 now says you have the latest firmware, you are good, even thou it said last time it completed 98%.

Just check for shure. If it tells you that you're not on the latest firmware, it means that your SC has rolled back to the former firmware. Just be shure you have restarted the SC after the update before you check again.

I'm having the same problem - set timeout to 30 minutes.  Hangs at 16% then moves on - gets the to the end, reboots, comes back up with a message that says "Note:  Latest Version Now" (sees screenshot)- then a few seconds later says there is a new version (see screenshot), click update, then "new version detected" - with the current / new version.  I repeat same steps and the same thing happens over and over and over.

I have DJI Assistant 2.0.10 (latest) - read in an earlier post the PC update only works on the 2.0.08 version - is that correct?

Do you have a micro SD installed in the slot at the top of the controller? If so, remove it and try the update again - that worked for me.
