If we get fully developed 3rd party applications that are not 100% backed up by DJI, if things go wrong (and sometimes they do go wrong), DJI "can" just walk away from any liability and we would end up with an useless bird in our hands (that sounded terrible...lol)

if its a  3rd party applications their never will be 100% backed by dji.

also the SDK requires approval by dji and there is a process where dji has to be involved. so its not like anyone can grab the sdk and publish something that will make your copter crash.

Just to confirm, yes, DJI does have to approve 3rd party developers before you can get L2 SDK access. We have been working closely with DJI since the start to bring a safe and enjoyable Autopilot experience to market, and it is almost here (for the Inspire and P3 platforms, already here for P2V+).
