Hello Everyone!
In this video I quickly review some basic Spark flying tips to "get it right in the camera" before moving on to fixing your footage in post. Using Final Cut Pro X I explain in detail how you can balance colour, fix exposure issues, slow down your footage and make your shots look consistent from clip to clip. Even if you fly another DJI drone or use a different video editor there is still a lot of good tips and information.

I hope you find it useful and thanks for watching!

Will have to check the video later, but the most annoying thing about the spark footage is the variable frame rate...
Thanks for uploading!

Great video! I drove out to a waterfall the other day and forgot to manually set the white balance.... Not sure how it ended up on auto since I changed it to manual a long time ago and it always seemed to stick (firmware update reset it maybe?)

Anyway it made my life hell in post. Check your white balance.... you may not see it while flying especially if you have direct sunlight on your device. 2 hour drive and a 5 mile hike was almost a complete loss.

It's why I have "Display Camera OSD" on - it puts the little heads up on the screen showing ISO, shutter, EV and WB settings. Still though, with that on I still may miss seeing that I am in AWB.

The interesting part is I almost never use auto white balance unless I am specifically testing or demonstrating something. Yet from time to time I still end up in AWB and like you say, usually notice too late. I have tried all sorts of different combinations - reboots, pulling the battery, change to photo/video, automated flight modes, etc - but I cannot make it happen. It just does. Randomly.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug but unless I can make it happen repeatedly I doubt DJI will even look at it.

Thanks. Curious what you mean about the variable frame rate?

The variable frame rate footage from the Spark is known to cause stutter in certain editor software.
Some editors will convert vfr to cfr on import, and do a decent job. But not all.

Here is a technical explanation thread: https://forum.dji.com/thread-124950-1-1.html

When your workflow/editor all goes wrong, this will be your result:
(Imported clip into Gopro's Quik software and speeded up)
