Granadilla , old manor of Granada, is an old walled town of feudal origin in the northwest of the province of Cáceres , Spain . Since 1960, when it was occupied by the State, it belongs to the municipality of Zarza de Granadilla .Previously it was an important town, capital of the region known asTierras de Granadilla and head of the judicial district. It was evicted in the mid-twentieth century , when it became a flood zone due to the construction of the Gabriel y Galán reservoir. Today it remains under that cataloging officially, although in no time the town has become flooded, not even with the reservoir full. In 1980, the town was declared a Historic-Artistic Site and, four years later, in 1984, it was chosen for inclusion in the Abandoned Villages Recovery Program .
The most significant element of the fortification is thecastle , which was built byGarcía Álvarez de Toledo and Carrillo de Toledo , Duke of Alba , between 1473 and 1478. Its architects were Juan Carrera and Tomás Bretón. It consists of a central prismatic body and four semi-cylindrical bodies that are attached to each side.
Inside the walls, the population was distributed in a radioconcentric way around the Plaza Mayor, which is the highest point where the houses occupied formerly by the members of the number of the town, the manorial council and the predominant families. Although the configuration of many houses has changed due to the restoration of houses that took place after the eviction, some houses of certain architectural importance remain almost intact.

Really awesome video. Great location and perfect music. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a lot. I'm glad that you've liked the music as well. I wanted to use this piece as it conveys some sense of loss for this place that has been sentenced to die. Now it has a new lease of life and thanks to it's turbulent past it gives an opportunity to move back in time a bit.
