OSMO Pocket Picnic.mp4_20190506_063643.160.jpg

Korea has many family related holidays in May.
Means go out with your kids and take some pictures.

003.JPG

While take video with kids is fine but it often become a plane 'looking down' angle.
At least if you are walking with them. Unless you bend down the whole time... (Ouch my back)

OSMO Pocket Picnic.mp4_20190506_063312.513-.jpg

So instead I bring my selfie stick to take a low angle shot while I can straighten my back.

Here is my set up for the shot. (As requested by Udo.)

Very usual configuration here.

Selfie stick + mount (DIY) + Phone mount + cable

Attach phone mount at the bottom of the selfie stick.

Now connect the cable.

Finished configuration.
You hold this thing upside down so the pocket goes to the bottom as under slung mode.
Now hold the stick at its pivot point and phone screen should be at your eye level and pocket should be at your subject's eye level.

(Of course you can extend the stick longer so pocket can go down at the eye level with your subject.)
(Because mimo app screen is not rotating, you have to flip the phone and see the app upside down.)

(See the shadow)

Now the whole setup is working like steadicam and it helps to reduce the bounce of your walk.
And it works very well.

It is really interesting to see the view at your dog's perspective while walking togather.
Some fresh experience and I recommend to try it.

Many thanks, Tide. I've tried it, very easy and smooth shootings.
Where you got the holder for smartphone attachment for selfie stick?

I never saw it in Germany on Amazon or ….

Difficult part was my dog.
She didn't appreciate a camera blocking her view and try to dodge in all directions.

I really like the shot at 0:47. It leads nicely into the dog's walking pace.

Hi Udo,

Wow, that turned out great! Your dog is a great actor, lol. I know it's just a personal preference, but most of those scenes were very active, and I think it would have looked even better if it were at 30 fps instead of 24, but hey, that's just me. That scene following your dog from the side walking was really good. I can see you trying that about 50 times before it worked out, haha. Again, great video and thanks for sharing.

I also debate between 24 and 30 all the time
Actually all the shot was done in first try. It was much easier than it looks because pocket handles the stabilization.

Thanks.  I wonder how your video turns out.

My biggest challenge is that the harness is made for a lab, not a Shih Tzu. It kept sliding around, but I intend to try, again.
