Home Point Distance (circled in pic, not my actual) always shows 0
Why is this?

if your phone or tablet doesn't have gps this is not work

He stated that picture wasn't his, so you don't see the 0.

That is the distance from your device (not home point) to the bird. If it isn't working:

1 - Are you using a device that has GPS?
2 - Did you give location permission to the app?

Now I should bee nasty and say  you should get your self a iOS device,
many members say it works much better.
This is because the app don't read the GPS of your device.
If your device have GPS turn on location in settings for app.
Some have also used Garmin GPS connected with Bluetooth for this.

This is an iPad 5th gen that I use - current iOS 12.2
use position always is set for the app.

But if I do not have GPS, how does the compass work?
It shows my location???

There is nothing wrong with your iPad.
This is mixed up communications from the iPad to Dji Go app.
This has not worked as it should for more than a year.
You can get yourself a Garmin Glo GPS and connect it to the Ipad,
or get a decent Android device and this will work.

can i get this straight? my nougat s8 shows homepoint distance to aircraft but phone location is off (location means gps). so is the aircraft (not rc) polling the latitude longitude on its own merit?
from this post, mine should always be zero too?
