Well that’s the thing, dji has always been way ahead when it comes to stabilization of cameras , so I think this is where we will see the initial war about who has the best, so I expect to see many in favour many against.
I’m still hoping there is something else in this release, I just feel the leak of Osmo action may be trying to throw off the scent of other new products.
In 2016 December it was expected we would see a new inspire 2 launched, but on the same platform the new P4Pro was also released and stole the show, fingers crossed .

Going with it is underwater camera, unless it is attached to underwater RC drone; it won't unleash my other side.
Reason: Plenty of underwater cameras out there for decades.  Made my own underwater camera housing with  electro-optically coupled seperately housed flash three decades back.

If it is an underwater drone with camera, lighting will be an issue.  
Lights being needed at night and at deeper depths.
Lights close to drone body will cause light to be reflected from any suspended material in water, ruining images.
Lighting correction with lights off will be needed due to loss of warm colors (Red at 5-meters, Orange at 10-meters, Yellow at 20-meters), deeper drone goes.  Or with lights on distance to subject becomes an issue.

Examples:

Day time, subject down 5-meter in water, drone camera 5-meters away from subject reflected light, total total of 10-meters - loss of Reds.
Night time, drone 5-meters from subject, light from drone 5-meters to subject, reflected light 5-meters back to drone camera, total 10-meters - loss of Reds.

I think it's going to be a drone that can land on the water surface and take underwater footage with the submerged camera and gimbal. Or maybe even it will have two gimbals, to take both a shot on the water surface, and one under the water surface, as they are suggesting in the ads that it is something related to the mirror effect too. This method is the most likely to happen, as it is less possible at the moment to fully submerge a drone because of the radio transmission problems underwater. This method also sounds very related to the "unleash you other side" statement, as you will see the other side of the water surface.

If DJI releases a waterproof action cam BEFORE they release the waterproof housing for the Osmo Pocket a lot of people are going to lose it.[Image]

I think they will just never release it. There is the first official waterproof housing on the market (cytronix) and it is just a big fail. No focus possible. I think technically you need a dome very big in diameter to get to the point where is no distortion.
With the flat glass in the currently condition of the DJI housing you will get distortion as soon as the lens is not parallel with the glass.
I think DJI want us to buy this Action Cam and slowly forget about the osmo pocket housing.

as seen some picture online, it does have internal gimbal (i was hoping for 1inch sensor, but with gimbal not enough room for that).
so, there. all-in-one kind of action thing, looks like it.

Tons of YouTubers have already had them for weeks!  I would assume DJI Panda and the others have already known for quite some time as well.  I would be shocked if they weren't a part of the business plan and strategy for launching a new product.

I am hoping I can get  a dji mavic air one day.  I got a dji tello as a grade school graduation gift.  But I wish when I get it it has more advanced obstacle detection like the mavic 2.  

Something completely new would be nice.

It's going to be interesting to see if the leaks / rumors are true. The action cam is an interesting direction from DJI.

Who knows, it could end up being a submersible drone instead!
