Is it possible to fly perfectly straight forward with no turning?

Hi everyone, this perhaps seems like a silly question, but one I am going to ask nonetheless: is it possible to fly a Phantom 4 Pro drone perfectly straight foward (or backward) without it accidentally turning in any direction? Other than due to wind or weather factors, of course.

I've been trying to get some shots where I fly straight above a straight trail, but no matter how hard I try, I always end up accidentally pushing the thumbstick just slightly enough to one side that there is a visible turn (albeit slight, but still noticable) within the video. Is it possible to somehow lock down the directional controls in a custom mode so that the drone will not turn, and will only go forwards and backwards in the exact direction it's facing? Or is this only achievable through lots of persistance and practice?

Similarly, is it possible to somehow lock down the strafe controls when flying up or down to avoid accidental deviations? I've been trying out some "pedestal" style shots alongside buildings but again, no matter how hard I try to not have the camera move left or right, it ends up doing so and is visible in the footage.

Not sure if this is at all possible, or if anyone has any recommendations to overcome this? Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

You may try "Draw" (page 24 of the manual), the drone will fly along the flight path drawn on screen.

Course Lock is an option too.

Course Lock is an option too.

I started to reply with Course Lock earlier and while it will allow you to fly straight in one sense it would still allow rotation or a left or right shift in that straight flight.  But at least the flight would not be curved.

Course lock should do that without a problem & allow you full manoeuverability around the vertical axis whilst travelling.

Yes you are correct, I didn't even think about that. Thank you for correcting me there.

Not correcting, just mentioning the pitfalls.   Course Lock would be what I would use in this situation.   Course Lock is more powerful than a lot of people are willing to give it credit for.  What else would you use if you wanted to fly a perfect square for instance?

The post seems resolved as people have already mentioned , I just wanted to add
You can try DJI Pilot for straight flights , as you can plan everything in pre-flight on how you want the things to go

How come you can’t fly in a straight line, manually?

Yeah, eh?! Cheers bud.

It’s not the best condition to fly in, but perhaps that’s your only condition, then that makes it all right.

All right? Haha

Perhaps you need to crash, get some rest I mean... Chuckles

I’d rather have a bottle in front of me,

Than a frontal lobotomy, to any degree.

I like a stiff shot, once in awhile myself.

More of a “special” herbal tea aficionados these past several decades...

Beer or a glass of Red,  depending on circumstances for me - but only occasionally now-a-daze.
