Relatively new drone pilot here in peace. Go gentle on me!

I was out this evening flying my Spark and took the attached image. I was in the air for 4 mins.

Upon returning, my new neighbour popped over to tell me that I wasn’t allowed to fly above the houses and not allowed to take a photo of my house - as hers will be in shot.

Is this correct?

The UK has gone nuts since the airport incidents. Drones are definitely considered evil.

You just need to be brave for that

Taking the image isn't the problem.
The size of your ground is it.
It needs to be 50m away from someone others ground
And yes, everywhere are different rules for comercial drone users.
They get permitions which we'll never get

Oh, tell your neighbour that you are sorry.
And if you can get him the part of the picture with his property on it!
Usually you "just" need consent from the property owner/users

If I didn't know anything about drones, only what i saw on TV I might be concerned too if I suddenly hear something buzzing around over my house. Maybe go knock on her door and show her the picture and ask if she wants to see you fly it. Either she just wants to nag and will say no and go away, or she might show some interest. Then explain to her that you are new at it and just getting the feel for it, and assure her you are not going to be buzzing the thing around her house all the time. And then of course make sure you don't.

Hey, I got the same complaint from my neighbor last month

No law is broken (yet) in my case, but hey, good relationship with someone who's going to live next to your home for (probably) decades to come is a necessity.

i think before you fly your drone in the complex that you live check the regulations of the place if to see if you are allowd to fly your drone and if you are, ask the people that lives next to your house if its okay to take pic of your house and their house (if their house will be included in the photo and make sure your drone is with the FAA for saftey measure
