My first experience as videographer in a classic regatta. I could talk for hours, it was unbelievable. I hope you like this short contribution I made. No DJI Ronin-S this time, only handheld Nikon Z6 with its 24-70 f/4 and NiSi VarioND filter, plus my DJI Mavic 2 Pro with Polar Pro ND filters for aerial shots.

Thanks elberti! No, I was on the press speedboat together with another photographer, friend of mine. Better to not go on the racing boats during a regatta, unless you want to be a burden and therefore cursed and punched by the sailors.

Still -- you were on a boat and it is quite difficult to take off and especially landing

Oh yes! Takeoff (by hand) was easy, but as you said the landing (hand catch) was quite difficult because you can't grab the Mavic like the Phantom and its big landing gear, so you need to find the sweet spot when the speedboat doesn't move/leeway too much and the wind is "calm". The risk is touching one of the props with your fingers and make the Mavic unstable (or break the props)... and sink it.

Not only the Mavic was in risk it were your fingers and hand too.
Don't know how about Mavic but Phantom can cut you pretty badly - tested on my hand.

I recognise some of the yachts as belonging to some friends of mine and know Francesco very well, he is associated with them too.

There are several faces there (including Vera and Simone) that I recognise too.

Hi terrierist, you are right! Francesco is also a friend of mine and that day he invited me on the press boat as my first regatta experience, so he kept an eye on me and my safety aboard. I felt quite relaxed flying the M2P while the speedboat was kept moving. Great day and I'm very satisfied with the footage taken.

Hey, Amazing shots and post produktion. May i ask what settings you used on the drone when you shot this footage? d-log ? 0,0,0? and so on. Also was it strait ND or ND PL ?

The footage was shot in 4K HQ mode, d-log and 0,-1,0 style settings. I had the Polar Pro ND8 on (not PL). Each scene was corrected in post to fix any lens distortion and tilted horizon (that may happen especially if you fly in sport mode). Some of the scenes with the handheld Z6 on the speedboat are obviously stabilized in post. The color correction, grading, and final montage are in Final Cut Pro X.
