I cannot record the clip from the broadcast, but here is the BBC link
The better quality video is on YouTube

to BBC
Here is a video link to the lifeboat incident yesterday afternoon, taken by drone at 5.00pm. I also include still photos that shows the small yacht being rescued from the rocks. Please note, for safety reasons, the drone stood off from the scene so there are no closeup shots. The closeup you see is just a cropped photo.

According to my hairdresser, so it must be right, there were two Royal Navy men on the yacht. The small white yacht was later towed into harbour by the lifeboat. Brave lads, risking their lives.

Hope you can use the photos. Feel free to use them as you see fit.

Thank you. Right place right time which is more than can be said for the skipper of the yacht.

Yes, she is. In this case, her husband crews on the lifeboat. The youtube recording is much clearer than the scene broadcast. I am amazed at the number of views it had last night.

Yup! Funny you should say that, that is what the hairdresser said. Don't tell her husband...

Thank you for putting up the video for me.
When you see the force of that current, it's no wonder the French never invaded us. They are about 9 miles away, across that stretch of sea, called the race.
In Victorian times, the British Government spent hundreds of £s (yes, £300 would build a fort, in those days) to protect the island from the French. There are Victorian forts all over the 3 square mile Island.
The French never wanted to come here...
When WW2 happened, the British Government evacuated the Island. The Germans arrived in great force, expecting a Mother of a fight. They sneaked ashore, crept across the Island and only found a few caretaker islanders curled up in bed.
Alderney became Hitler's key Island in his Atlantic wall and built many bunkers here. They used prisoners of war to do the digging and mixing of concrete. The result of all that work was a big, fat nothing. The British never visited. There's gratitude for you.
The Germans left in a huff and the islanders returned. Sadly, all the comfort girls went as well.
The Government here on the island are desperate for tourists to visit. What do they do? force the cost of air travel so high, it is cheaper for me to fly to Zagreb to visit the dentist than fly from here to the UK. Yes, we do have a dentist here, but when you have a dental emergency, you discover he is on holiday.
For those who love drones, you will be most welcome. ATC will be happy to grant permission. The only downside is that France have a vast NFZ that blankets all the Channel Islands, so your DJI drone won't start. I use NLD firmware and software, so it doesn't bother me.
I hope you have a giggle at my ramblings. It is a great place to be.

Still the French don't want to invade us.
