Is there any reason for higher price for Osmo Action in Europe (€ 379,- ; $ 349,-)?

Everything dji sellis more expensive in Europe which is fine, except Smart Controller Which is now more expensive in the US, your right to question this anomaly in prices and I believe dji should be honest about there pricing structure.

The price quoted in Europe includes VAT, the price quoted in USA does not include sales tax.  Sales tax in the USA is different between states and sometimes even differs within states.  Even though it might end up slightly cheaper, the difference between US and European pricing isn't all that big.

US prices, on electronics, have usually been the cheapest in the world. This is because we didn't have high tariffs on these imported goods

You should soon see US prices climb to "world class" levels. They could get even higher than others, or even get supply shortages, due to "the war".

Here, in Thailand, prices are also higher than US, but not to the extent of Europe. The VAT has a lot to do with it here. Thailand doesn't put high tariffs on Chinese products; they are too cozy with them.

Thats right.
The VAT is calculated when buying as it depends on where exactly youre buying it. So all prices in US are always advertised WITHOUT VAT

Thanks for all your replies, but it doesn't explain why Osmo Action is the only product (afaik) which is more expensive in EU than in U.S. (Shown retail price). Usually  it's the same retail price in numbers which already implies ~11% more due to the exchange rate €/$.

Apple product are also cheaper in US than in Europe.... So DJI isn't the only one.

Sales tax also differ in EU in between the counties, can be as much as 7 - 10 % in difference in between cheapest country and most expensive country,,,,,, and yes i live in one of the most expensive countries, not only for sales tax.
For instance if you want the worlds most expensive cup of coffee, you will have to go to my country to get it ( Denmark )

But, yes, that Sales Tax can really bite.  And Seattle's is higher than some surrounding cities.  I just purchased a new car and boy, did that tax hurt!  And it does not show in the sticker price of the car.

tax on a car here = buy 1 car pay for at least 2
Ant thats not including the 25 % sales tax, that come afterwards and also go on the tax so tax on tax.

But, yes, that Sales Tax can really bite.  And Seattle's is higher than some surrounding cities.  I just purchased a new car and boy, did that tax hurt!  And it does not show in the sticker price of the car.

I'm going off topic a bit, but if you're in Seattle, you're not far from Oregon where there's no sales tax...  At some point it must be cheaper to make a day trip to Portland!

Sales tax/VAT - it's all taxes.

But you are close.  It is about 3 hours drive - mostly boring!  But just last week we hit Seaside, Or and there's a Costco on the way home from there.  Sure enough - that 5 tetra portable hard drive is now in my possession.  And we've done similar in trips past.  Rightly, we are suppose to pay the state - yeah, sure, you-betcha!!!  Can't do it with car purchases - they get you when you register for plates back here. 45 years ago when I moved here, I had to prove that I paid NY state sales tax or they were going to ding me - even on a 5 year old car.  A big one for a long time was alcohol purchases - many trips back with full trunks - not me but I have brought back Campari (g) !

You track US sales taxes? (g)  But they have an income tax and we don't.

I don't track sales taxes, I've spent a bit of time in the US on business trips.  Customers in CA, OR, MN mostly.  So I know if I'm looking to buy something I should wait for an Oregon trip!  Although MN doesn't charge sales tax on clothing, so that's nice too.  And technically I'm supposed to declare purchases at customs in the UK on arrival, but who actually does that??  I usually return to Glasgow, and there's almost never anyone at the customs area anyway.

After 25 years in West Seattle we moved to Port Orchard and have been enjoying a HUGE drop in all of our taxes...Property, car tabs and sales taxes...and NO ST3 failed transit tax ;-)

Living in a socialist city can get expensive ;-p
